(belated) Happy Birthday Primrose
(1) I hope the movie was wonderful! I have been thinking of y'all all weekend. (Am in San Diego working on a paper for my uni in Sydney...but in honour of y'all I wore an old Riddlefest shirt yesterday and slept in it too.)

(2) Happy (belated) Birthday Kelly! I think it's so cool that there was a movie premiere to celebrate it! *smile* I hope both your online and RL weekends were wonderful, and that this is a TERRIFIC year.

Friday! (tomorrow!)
So I know some folks are planning to see the film tomorrow during the day, early - cool. Are people still planning an evening show, too? Dinner stuffs?

I'll be traveling down by commuter rail sometime in the late afternoon or early evening. When should I aim to arrive? I have some flexibility but the earlier I can tell my boss when I need to leave, the better. If nobody's able to pick me up at the station I should be able to take a cab if it's not too far to the theater area, which I believe it isn't.

Anyway... whatever details there are, or ponderings about potential details, let me know.

Showtimes on Friday
The Warwick Showcase has a 10:15 showing and a 10:45 showing. As well as an 11:40 showing, but I'd prefer one of the two earlier ones.

I'm thinking show, then maybe a lunch conversation at one of the many fine restaurants in the Warwick area. Thoughts, people?

Hey, gang!

heinous_bitca just pointed someone else here, and I figured I would pop over and introduce myself--I hadn't realised I'd never officially joined up. And looking at the list of members, I realised just now that I don't know about a third of you! So!

Not to be the overly perky hostess type, but I'd really like to know a bit about each of you before we all meet up, so please feel free to introduce yourselves. I'll go first. :)

So, um, my name's Aja, I'm an H/D slash author and I've been in the fandom since May of 2000, although I only delurked in November of 2001. Most people know me through Armchair Slash, which is an H/D mailing list/website, or through my fic Love Under Will.

Now it's your turn.

How many people do we actually have going to this thing, anyway? I'm assuming Moony and Jo and Elia will be doing the Boston thing, or am I wrong?

PoA Pre-Party June 2
Hi Riddlefest folk: I wanted to invite all of you to our PoA Pre-Party on June 2 at Boston Beerworks on Canal St, in case any of you feel like making the trip up! I'm Mariella and we're Boston's Magickal Mythopoeic Movie Group at www.expectopatronvm.com. We're going to the midnight show the next night, and we'll be having a Book Drive and charity raffle at the Beerworks, as well as a general meet-n-greet. Feel free to stop by, the more the merrier! Check out expectopatronvm.com for details. Thanks!

Early-ish showing?
I'm not a midnight show gal, but I am a noon show gal.

Is anyone available/interested in seeing PoA at the first showing on Friday? Since I've decided to be stupid and see PoA also in NYC at the IMAX, I'll likely be heading to NYC on Friday sometime, so an earlier showing would be best for me.

Tickets don't appear to be on sale yet. I may call the theater if they're not up after Friday.

So, anyone want to come with?

Yay, I am coming to the Friday of Riddlefest! Now, my question is, is there a schedule yet? Do I need to buy a movie ticket yet? Or are people seeing the movie at midnight or something? Essentially I'd like to come to RI on Friday afternoon sometime but still be able to go to work in the morning in Boston. So I would love to know what schedule planning may have already occured. I actually care much less about the movie than about the visiting (I am continuing on to NYC to see the movie Saturday so if I miss the movie time Friday it's OK) but I definitely want to maximize my time with fellow t00bs!

hey everyone,

i was thinking about the weekend and realized i didn't know if we had anything planned for saturday during the day, but i thought it might be fun to go to the beach for lunch. i don't know if y'all are up for it, but there are some great beaches within half an hour's drive that would be great to go to if it's nice. i'm a freak for the ocean, but let me know what you think- there's also a park in north kingstown [about 15 minutes from the hotel] with a less impressive beach but really nice picnic areas and trees and such. [goddard park, for people who know what i'm talking about]

Meh. I don't want to make this post, but I'd better.

I may not be able to make it to RI, after all. Financial difficulties are mounting, and at this point, I'm not sure where I'd come up with the money for the plane ticket and hotel, even if I DO eat very little.

I'm still working on it, trying to find a way, but I thought I'd warn you all now...I may be a no-show. *cries*

I finally spoke to my grandparents about me visiting them. I'm going to fly up to RI on June 2nd (Wednesday) and spend most of the day with them (they'll pick me up from the airport), and then that night I'll join up with you all. I'd prefer to not rely on them to get me to Warwick, though, so could one of you who has a car pick me up? They live in Cranston, which isn't far away. (Well, nothing in Rhode Island is far away from anything, really.) Thanks in advance :-)

(And by the way, you all are officially friends from school, because I didn't want to have to explain to them the, er, truth.)

Okay. Hmm. It looks like the Crowne Plaza has won out on our poll by one vote. It's a good choice; it has a lot of space, it's near everything, and with four in a room, should be doable pricewise. The only way I know at this date to make reservations is for you all to call the Plaza yourself.

The telephone number is 1-401-732-6000. There are still reservations available. You can also reserve a room online. I suggest doing this fairly quickly.

Feel free to use this community as a meetup/room share space. The only thing is, does anyone have ideas about exactly when we should first meet? I think it should be the night of the premiere, and then stay for as many days as we want (I live here, I could t00b for weeks!). There's plenty to do in RI, so it's up to y'all.

Comments? Questions?

If anyone wants my mobile number, email me at primroseburrows@yahoo.com. patchfire and moonlight69 both know it as well.

We've kind of mentioned this issue before, but can we get a headcount on cars & seatbelts vs. number needed? If we wanted to all chip in on renting a car and/or van, now would be the time to reserve it, I would think, to make sure we get what we want (i.e. if we need more space, a minivan vs. a 8 mpg SUV).

I'm willing to drive, especially if it means everyone has a seatbelt and no one's in anyone else's lap, or lying across laps. Not that I've done that before. *looks shifty*

Hi, this is Mariella, Boston LP Leader for PoA... primroseburrows invited me to join your LJ community from NEHP: maybe we can share ideas? Looks like you have a great group here. Feel free to stop on by our site at www.expectopatronvm.com . I just recently posted a FAQ and a Volunteers List there that you might find helpful for your LP.

PS primrose, thanks for the invite... love your icon! ;)

t00bage Poll
Poll #271927 Hotel Poll

Which Hotel would you pick for t00bage?

If you picked "other", tell what and why.

Okay, here goes. I've picked out a few hotels that might be acceptable for t00bage. The rates are all pretty much in the $139/night rate, but if you have four in a room, it should be doable. I don't know what policies these hotels have, but it's easy enough to check.

What I'm going to do is list the hotels here, and then later today make a poll. This should give you time to look over the hotels. I need to get a decision on what hotel to pick within a day or two, tops, because the rooms are going fast (this is my fault; I really didn't think that hotels inland would be as popular).

Here's the list. Any comments welcome, and I'll make a poll later.

Crowne Plaza Hotel, Warwick

Courtyard by Marriot, Warwick

Comfort Inn Airport Warwick

Hampton Inn Warwick

Tell me what you think. I can answer questions about the area, if you'd like, as well. You might want to think about whether having a pool is important (I think it is!). In these four places, all but one (Comfort Inn) have a pool, if I'm reading it right. Theoretically, you can stay in any of these and all meet somewhere for t00bing, but I like the idea of us all being in one central location. All of these are close to the theater.

Poll forthcoming, probably this evening.

*surfs for accomodations* Hrmm.
Okay, to make finding hotels, figuring out who's staying with who when, and whatnot easier, please comment to this post with your tentative dates of arrival and departure, and whether you plan to stay in a hotel, or have made other arrangements.

(I hope you don't mind this, Kelly, but I'm getting excited, and I was just thinking this might make things easier all around. ;) )

I plan to arrive May 29th, stay until June 6th, and stay in a hotel for as much of that as I can find roomies for, for instance. *G*

I have been silent in the community up until now, but I would like to say hi to everyone and put an idea out there- would anyone be interested in getting Riddlefest 2004 t-shirts?

I used to work at a t-shirt shop, but since I am currently studying in England, I had to quit. (That business does not treat the customers well, anyway. I'd know.) While working there, I met a woman who opened up her own screen-printing business, and she is more dependable and would probably be cheaper.

So is the t-shirt idea good or bad? Let me know, because if you guys want shirts, we could start the planning process early.

Okay, so. Question. When does everyone plan to arrive/depart RI for this thing? I'm trying to get flight arrangements going, and don't want to be at loose ends for 2-3 days, because I'm the only one there. Also, do we have any more info on rooming arrangements? Who wants to share a hotel room with me? *G*

*wanders in rather tentatively*

diamond_dust06 pointed me in this direction. My name is Melynda, I'm 24, and I live in Houston, Texas. I finished college a few years ago and have yet to decide what I want to do next. I am owned by auror_kingsley and bitter_edge in TSW.

*takes a deep breath*

Now that my (very short) bio is out of the way, I will just say that I think this is a wonderful idea and, job permitting, I will be in RI in June.
